After what seemed like an eternity, Keann was finally done. It took him a very long time. How many sketches of these rings did he make? Dozens? More? Every time he thought he was done and liked the result, he could just imagine Arien telling him that it was too much. She wouldn’t want of something too fancy and expensive. She’d refuse any gem that looked too big as well or something with different gold in it. But Keann couldn’t go for something basic. Normally, he wouldn’t have the means for something like that, but the fact he was the one making it, he could afford it. He looked at the end result. The pattern was simple in appearance - he’d never admit how much work he actually put into it. As for the gem, he settled for less by picking one of lesser quality. He was certain it was the only way Arien would agree to something like that. He even made a matching one for himself. Both were sitting in his palm right now. In truth, he had finished making them a little while ago. He actually started to work on those rings ever since Arien moved to a shop closer of his and lived with him. Oh, he’d never dare share a room with her, not until they were properly married, but helping her buy the shop next to his so they could live together and both still work pushed him to consider wedding more seriously. He never talked of it to her though, and that might explain his hesitation. A boy like him, who constantly stumbled on his words or his two feet whenever it was not related to his work, how could she seriously want to marry that? It still surprised him that she chose him. Proposing to her, saying the actual words, it stressed him so much. He could feel the words getting caught in his throat and preventing him to breathe. He kept looking at the rings, hoping they could give him the courage he needed. He already had the one to make them after all.

A lot of changes happened into Arien’s life and she was pretty happy about those. She was finally living with Keann, which was a surprise for her to be with someone who had his personality but she found him charming and she enjoyed his company. She had doubts on being in a relationship with someone who was as strong headed as she was. Wouldn’t it only clash if she was with someone who had a similar personality as hers? It was best not to think about it. She had sewed a lot of dresses for the princess and a few other high noble women lately which had kept her busy and naturally, she was often found in her shop. It was why she had never expected Keann to have actually worked on a wedding ring or even to want to marry her. They might have discussed it here and there but nothing serious came out to this. Besides, whenever she observed him, he seemed still shy around her. Sure, it was not as bad as when they had first met but it was still there.
She had another long day of sewing done and closed her shop for the day. “I’m home.” She announced once she arrived. She didn’t know either he was at his job or was already done but she generally tended to be the one who stayed the latest and she was almost certain that he was there. She would have to fix dinner for the two of them, when he’d be there so meanwhile, she decided to grab a nearby book and to sit by the window. Relaxing after work was always good for her, or for anyone for the matter. She also started wondering either or not Keann’s cousin would visit them for dinner, it had been a while since she heard of Laurë.
She’d have a lot of questions for Keann for whenever he would be there.

Keann was still contemplating the rings. Could she say no? He didn’t think she would, but it remained nerve-racking. She was so strong, so confident and he... Oh, he could be when working. He was not stuttering when describing a necklace he just created for a nobleman, detailing the work done and the value of the stones, he was always very professional. The moment it became on a personal level however, he turned into a shy klutz. This was so unlike everyone he knew around him, Arien, Laure, his father... It made him doubt all the more why any of these people would want to stick around him any more than necessary.
He didn’t see Arien come in. He was still at the shop and too lost in his mind. Normally, he’d notice her circling around the building to get to their home upstairs but not this time. He sighed heavily, ready to close the little box - and his shop - to head back home. He didn’t want to work too late tonight. But, as he meant to close the box, one of the rings fell off. It had to his, as it was circular and could roll throughout a longer distance, unlike hers with a gem mounted on it. On his knees, he chased after the ring, hoping he didn’t cause too much of a ruckus while hitting some of the shelves. It rolled down the bench placed against the opposite wall. He crawled underneath to grab it, only to hurt his head as he pulled back. Clumsy, alright.
He looked at the two rings in the box and made sure this time that none would come out before closing it. He then walked, slowly as all of this had been a little painful, to close the shop and then head upstairs, dragging his feet. He suddenly looked more tired than he was before.
