Age: 20
Length Roleplaying: 6 years or so.
~~The Mask ~~
Character Name: Faramir
Age: 26
Date of Birth: June 2, 2983
Race: Man
Residence: Minas Tirith
Profession: Commander of the Rangers of Ithilien, A Captain of Gondor.
Appearance:
Through his lifetime of training in the art of combat, Faramir is built leanly with muscle. At 6'1, he stands tall and proud, with a body that was molded for speed and strength in the fields. With a noble facial structure, and fair expression, he can appear both stern and caring, if not in the same glance. His courage and his pity can easily be seen in his expressions, but he never truly sought to hide any of it.
His eyes are clear and grey and filled with the passion for his people boldly announced. True to his blood, his gaze is proud, as is his posture. His dark hair is kept near his shoulders, and matching facial hair presents itself. His skin is slightly darkened, due to the time he spends outdoors. By appearance, he fits the visage of the man he means to be.
As far as dress goes, Faramir proudly dresses the part of a son of Gondor. The White Tree is proudly displayed on his armour, and typically, his clothes range in dark browns and earthen colours. When dressed for battle, his attire tends to consist of leather armour, never without gloves to protect his hands. Typically, when Faramir is not with the soldiers or sparring, he keeps his weapons put away. Though, if in need of them, he carries a bow, sword and a knife; skilled in all three.
Personality:
A scholar at heart, Faramir had always been eager for knowledge. He could spend great amounts of time with ancient manuscripts to retrieve all the knowledge he could. Even in earlier years, when he welcomed Gandalf, much to his father's dismay, and used the opportunity to learn more of history. He's always been in love with both lore and music, leaving him to be a rather gentle man in personality. Even with a distant and grim father, who favoured his older brother, Faramir never felt any jealousy or desire for rivalry with Boromir. Even after his mother's death, the tragedy only brought him closer. He looked up to his older brother and loved him dearly.
While more of a scholar than a fighter, his skills do not exempt him from being a warrior. He understands how to lead men, and is skilled with arms. He's quick to make decisions and his judgement is rarely off. As courageous as he is, it's not always recognized as with his older brother. For Faramir, he never sought out glory and does not fight for the sake of fighting. Faramir can easily read the hearts of men, but it leads him to feel for them rather than to cast judgement.
~~ The Family ~~
Parents: Finduilas and Denethor II
Sibling(s): Faramir
Spouse: None
Children: None
History:
Faramir was born in 2983 to Finduilas and Denethor II. A year following his birth, Denethor II became the Steward of Gondor. His first tragedy and grief came at the age of five with the death of his mother. With what memories he has before her death, he sees those days as more lovely, but had to come to pass. After his mother's death, his father became cold and distant. Yet, Faramir stayed close with his older brother, even despite his father's favouritism. There was nothing that he could do to win his father's pride and while it never strained his relationship with Boromir, he would have liked to please him with who he was.
At a young age, Faramir had a strong desire to learn. He spent countless hours reading manuscripts and enveloping what the tutors had to teach him. He fell in love with the lore and stories and preferred them to battle. Yet, he also learned the art of fighting. He excelled in archery and swordsmanship, but it never gave him the esteem of his father. Though, it was his brother's favour that he relied more heavily upon.
Always at the ready to defend Gondor, he did fight in the army and became a commander of the Rangers of Ithilien. With his skill in battle and his nature with men, he has attributes that create a great leader. And while it isn't often viewed by others to stand up to the great leader that his brother could be, he earns respect on his own accounts.
Anything Else?: No.
