Tonight was not gonna be a calm night for Keann. After the kiss, now Arien decided to hold his hands while talking to him. She wanted him to stop being so shy around her. He lowered his head, thinking he couldn’t get redder. Not like he was doing it on purpose. He had never been good in public, but when he was around people he loved, it was worse. He was just so afraid of doing something that might displease her. Well, for now, he more feared to have done something. She said he was rather cute at the ball, but he still had no memory. Did he kiss her, or said he loved her? To think he might have finally declared himself while being drunk... that wasn’t how he wanted it to happen.
“Sorry.” He only said to what she told him. Yes, he was sorry. Sorry to be always so shy in front of her. Keann was good for apologizing, especially when he had no reasons to. For now, he was trying to make abstraction of Jossian and Laurë who were certainly not missing a thing. His hands were still in hers, he could feel their warmth against his. His palms were faced up and he could see some cuts and their roughness. Again, he moved his fingers to form a fist and released them once or twice. He should be taking better care of his hands. They were the tools of his trade. And what kind of girl would like him to hold her if they were rough?
He raised his head and forced a small smile on his lips. He didn’t want her to worry.

Arien smiled some more though thinking that it might just have something to do at the ball, she could explain him what happened but not right now. She wanted to keep it as a secret for now and wanted to make sure that he truly meant what he said and that it wasn’t simply because of alcohol. “If you are worrying about the ball, you didn’t do anything bad, I promise.” She added still wanting to make him feel at least more comfortable about this whole awkward situation.
She shook her head as he apologized to her. “You don’t need to be.” She replied. She glanced at the time thinking that she was there for too long and perhaps they needed to continue their own work. “Perhaps I should go, it is getting late and you might have more goblets to continue to make.” She said. She still held his hands for a few moments but soon released them reluctantly and stood up going to Jossian and Laurë thanking them for inviting her for a meal. Jossian was more than pleased and offered her to come once again if she wanted to. She smiled saying that it was a great idea and went to the door. At that moment, Laurë forced Keann to stand up and go to her and tell her at least a good bye as a gentleman should do.
Arien didn’t notice the gesture since she was heading to the door already.

Keann didn’t want Arien to leave already. He always felt good in her presence, no matter how nervous and shy he may be. She had a rather soothing effect on him, because she was his friend and always nice to him. He was usually able to speak more easily with her than anybody else. What caused this situation was the lack of memory at the ball – which she repeated once more that nothing bad happened – and his feelings for her. Things had grown more complicated as of late. He liked to say even if she wanted him only as friend, it was fine with him. But recently, it was as if his head was saying it but not his heart anymore. Plus having his family around was not helping him.
Laurë raised him up from his seat after Arien told them all goodbye. She pushed him so he could be right behind the girl. No need to be a genius to understand what she wanted him to do. He cleared his throat as he opened the door for her and walked down with her to the shop and out in the streets. “Let...let me walk you home. Only if you want, of course!” he added quickly. He was nervous to be forced to do something and didn’t want to force his presence to Arien if she wanted to walk home alone, or if she had somewhere else to go to.

Laurë was rather pleased that her plan worked. She giggled for a few moments before helping Jossian out once the two lovers were out.
Arien was a bit surprised by the sudden gesture of Keann. Sure she knew that he could act like a gentleman but she only smiled wider as he proposed to walk her home. Of course she wouldn’t mind! Sure she liked being alone at some points but she would never refuse to have the company of someone like Keann. “Of course.” She said as her face lit up slightly. She walked outside waiting for him and soon they went on a walk to her shop.
She walked by his side in silence, appreciating the moment they were sharing together, as always. “Jossian is such a sweet man, I am certain that my mother would like the man.” She stated with a small laugh. “I had a great time with you. I hope it will happen more often from now on.” She added glancing at him as the smile was still printed onto her lips.

To see her this happy about him walking with her, it helped Keann calm down. He even smiled a little. They soon were walking together, at a slow pace, to her shop. None of them were going fast, they were enjoying the moment. For now, they kept silent. But it wasn’t as awkward as earlier in the house. His head raised some, showing how he looked when he was not so shy. It was rare, but it sometimes happened.
He frowned a little when she talked of her mother and his father. Locked with two matchmakers – Jossian and Laurë – he thought first that she wanted them to meet in order to have them fall in love with each other. But he forced his crazy imagination to calm down. It was logical to wish her parents to know her friends and, why not, her friends’ family. She appreciated his father so why was it bad to wish her mother to meet him? He was a parental figure of the kind to her, he assumed. Since she had no parents here in Minas Tirith.
He smiled again when she said she’d like them to see each other more, but this time, he was a little embarrassed. He wanted to, of course. In the same time, he didn’t want to force his presence. But if she said she’d like to see him more... “I’ll try to. This commission is taking a lot of my time for now.” He told her.

Arien was glad that he wasn’t as shy as he used to earlier while they were eating all together. She gazed at him for a few moments before returning her attention to in front of her. He certainly looked different from when he was shy. It made him look manlier and stronger at some point. She didn’t tell that to him though, of course, it would make him feel so uncomfortable to the point of stuttering.
She smiled and nodded once again as Keann talked of his commission. Of course, she understood; the new wedding dress that she would have to make was sure going to take her quite some time if she wanted to have anything done on the due date so the bride could try it on and then, to make the final adjustments. It didn’t look like it at first but making such dresses needed a lot of time especially if there had requests of special patterns or small details they wanted to add to it if the customers wanted to personalize them.
But her job was her passion; she didn’t mind how long it would take her. “It is fine, I will probably be busy as well with this dress I have to make soon.” She pointed out.

Keann nodded. Yes, he recalled the wedding dress she mentioned. He wondered if being forced of making such splendid, perfect dresses for the nobility was not annoying sometimes, since she couldn’t wear them herself. Sure she could, especially when meeting nobles. But if she wanted to wear that all the time, she’d have to close her shop because she’d be using the fabric usually meant for the clients. Same for him. With wars and all, the materials were sometimes hard to come by. After all, the government preferred to spend the iron on swords and not on necklaces and bracelets. Even if he was able to understand it, that was sometimes killing his business.
The two were always so busy. It was the price to pay when you were among the most famous ones at what you do and having no real apprentices to help you out. Keann still had his father sometimes. When it came of placing jewels, polishing the stones or jewels, keeping the shop clean, talking to clients and cutting the base of the object, he could do it. It was only the little details and more delicate things to do that caused problem. Arien was doing all of this on her own. In the end, having Laurë help her out was indeed a very good idea.
They stopped at her door. Keann wasn’t so sure what they could add. He cleared his throat, back to his nervous self. “Well... good night.” He said, unable to find anything better to say.

It didn’t take all that long before the walk was over and also it was one of the few times where she wished she lived further so they could’ve spent more time together. Good things always had an end but she knew that she would see him more often. If he wasn’t to come at her home, she knew what she had to do; Jossian always was welcoming her.
She stood and turned around so now she was facing him. She didn’t say anything yet until he told her good night. At these words she paused for a few moments but then without even giving him a warning, she leaned him and pecked his lips. It was a quick but sweet kiss at the same time. She decided that it was the time to get in.
“Good night.” She mused once she pulled away, grinning.

His eyes widened as he felt her lips. This time, they did not simply brush his but really kissed him. He felt a pressure on his lips for the briefest of time. But that was enough for his to blush as he never did of his life. He gulped, stuttering as he tried to say something. But he was quite unable to. He made a step backward and nearly fell to the ground as his two feet stumbled into one another. He held against the wall of her shop and step back more properly this time.
“G-good night...” he repeated. He almost fell down once again as he turned around to leave. He stopped after making a few steps and looked behind, at Arien. He recalled that usually, you had to wait for the person to get in before leaving. It was more polite. But he felt a little pathetic for almost finding himself the face in the dirt in front of her and so dared not going back to her until she entered her shop. He made a sheepish smile and waved at her, shyly.
