~~ Behind The Mask ~~
Name: Christel
This muse has broken away too much from simply being a NPC under her brother’s name, and she has started to form her own plots, so she needs to be broken off onto her own name I so think.
~~The Mask ~~
Character Name: Miriel
Age: 22
Date of Birth: 2 Narvinyë (January) 2987
Race: Human
Residence: Minas Tirith
Profession: Palace Cook
Appearance: Miriel is tall and exceptionally beautiful. Any person would say as such. The woman is descended from the noble lines of Dol Amroth, as her brother. She is fair of skin, with dark hair, but striking hazel eyes that at times appear green. Her looks are soft and she can seem quite charming, but in a blink her face can take on a look as sharp as her own tongue.
She has an air of dignity about her looks, and is always well kept in her appearance. Miriel is quite proud of her fashion, and dresses with nobility. While at work she does wear the garb of the kitchen staff, but she is sure to change as soon as she has her escape from the palace.
Personality: Miriel’s personality can be profoundly stunning. She ranges from one of sweet and sugary language and actions, to one who can quickly replace her own words with the bite of a serpent. She is impulsive in terms of which demeanor she will present herself as, though at times she speaks when she wishes she would hold her tongue. Miriel is as prone to hating as she is loving. She is also biased and extremely judgmental of people, especially if their own actions are getting in way of what she desires.
The only reason that Miriel has acquired a job at the palace is so that she might earn her way out of her household. She is not good at keeping suitors, for she draws them in easily enough with her beauty, but soon enough they turn away from her for the ugly side of her demanding nature and sharp tongue. The woman knows her beauty, but fears that she will never marry and leave her wretched household, so she does her best to purchase the most beautiful dresses and attend all the social gatherings that she might, in hopes of attracting a handsome soldier.
~~ The Family ~~
Parents:
Father- Faelon (deceased in warfare)
Mother- Meleth (45), cook in the citadel palace
Grandfather: Melanir (76), once a shipwright of Dol Amroth, now a city storyteller living with his youngest daughter in Minas Tirith.
Grandmother: Tinuves (68), once a midwife of Dol Amroth, now a caretaker of her grandchildren.
Sibling(s):
Sisters:
Narbeleth- (18)- She is somewhere between the stages of adolescent and adult, but does not care, for she is very spirited and lives for the day. She is much a loner, though looks up to her oldest brother, and also has a passion for horses and being outdoors. She is not concerned about her appearance, nor what people say of her. She does not work outside the home, for she has taken over much of her mother’s responsibilities in the home since her mother and older sister began to work in the palace.
Marileth (12)- The middle daughter, Marileth often feels overlooked, and when her older sisters are home, she is a shadow to them, copying them in all ways of attitude and vanity, and trying to fit in. She works hard to please her family, and she is very gifted in music and instrument.
Haliel (7)- Haliel is shy and gentle. She was born crippled and slow of speech, but she has the ability to walk well enough on her own now with the use of a cane, though she has limited balance. Haliel often avoids going out into public, embarrassed by the way she walks.
Brothers:
Faeldor (26)- Her only older sibling, Faeldor is the Horse Master of the citadel stables of Minas Tirith. Miriel loves the man dearly. Since her father’s death, Faeldor has taken care of the family, and Miriel herself. Yet also she hates him for his insufferable decisions.
Faelon II (8)- He is a wild youth, prone to be a show off, and a partaker in fighting amongst his friends. Faelon was named for his father shortly after his death, and when this is mentioned to him the boy will usually calm down and reevaluate the trouble he is causing. Despite his roughness and disobedience to his older sisters and brother, he is the sweetest of children to his little sister, and is always eager to assist her.
Spouse: none
Children: none
History: Miriel was born to Faelon and Meleth in the winter months of 2987 of the Third Age. She was the first daughter in her family, and at her birth, she had one older brother, Faeldor, whom she loved beyond all reason. Many children followed after her, so she was not the youngest for long, and instead she was given the responsibilities of the older children. Perhaps such responsibility suited her brother, but not Miriel, for she did not wish to be responsible nor in charge of others. She wished to be looked after. But once her four younger siblings were born and took the primary attention, there were none to look after her.
Miriel was always an attention seeking child, and favored her father greatly over her mother, who had always told her to act more like a lady. The little girl grew up among the horses in her father's stable with her older brother, and learned to ride at an early age, only increasing her expertise in her later years as she grew older. She loved the creatures, and often wished and asked for her own, but her brother was granted one, and not she. Both her father and mother told her that a woman of the city had not the use nor time for such, and that she should not spend so much time among the stables at her age.
At the age of fourteen, Miriel was finally convicted that she would never be allowed to work among the stables as her brother and her father, so for want of companionship, she began work beneath her mother, the baker, in the palace kitchens. She has since shown her skill in the business of cooking, and excelled to be one of the finer cooks, keeping the position now for eight years.
Year by year, Miriel's siblings grew up along with her, and one by one they exceeded her in all her talents. Faeldor was the horseman, riding faster and more graceful than any other. Narbeleth was charming and gained true friendships easier than any other. Marileth exceeded her musical talent at the young age of ten, and young Faelon and Haliel gained the family's attention by their impulsive and adorable actions. The only thing Miriel still held in favor of "best" was physical beauty, for none of her siblings had such a lovely face as herself, so she began to take pride in this.
Her father was taken down while on a mission, when she was just fifteen years old. At this time in Miriel's life, she lost sight of the strength of Gondor. If her father, the most brave, and strongest man she knew could be taken down by a band of foul orcs, then who in Gondor had the strength to face the armies of Mordor? She has no hope for the future of their nation, so she lives for her moment, seeking her own desires.
Anything Else?: One ring to rule them all
