~~The Mask ~~
Character Name: Faeldor
Age: 26
Date of Birth: Midsummers day, 2983
Race: Human
Residence: Minas Tirith
Profession: Head Stablemaster of the Citadel
Appearance: Faeldor is tall and lithe, with a very strong upper body suited to the work he does. Descended from the lines of Dol Amroth, he has a noble and handsome look about him. He is dark haired and grey eyed, and for all the time he spends outside, his skin is also tanned. His hair is medium length and wavy, and often in disarray from the wind and work, though he cleans up well and makes sure he is presentable when in the court of the Steward. He has a short beard that he keeps trimmed well.
He wears clothing bearing the tree of Gondor, though it is kept simple enough that he may move nimbly amongst the most feral of horses that get brought in. A blue shirt and tunic bearing the seal of Gondor, and grey hoes, with boots up to the calf and a belt. Faeldor owns the armor and garb of the Gondorian army, yet he has never needed to wear it yet, and he keeps it in the stable so as not to worry his mother with it, but the days are darkening and he does not know when or if he may be called into service.
Personality: Faeldor is not a shy man, nor is he brash. He is an even mix of temperament. He is gifted in speech, which perhaps merits his high position and tutoring as a child. He enjoys the presence of others, which is a good thing considering there is never a calm presence in his household. At a time he was outspoken, but now he has learned to hold his tongue amongst his family members and especially in the citadel where he has his duties. His mother always told him to keep his words gentle and sweet, in case he has to eat them, and he sticks to that.
Faeldor has a keen sense of humor, and knows when and when not to make a joke. His words have even drawn a smile from the lips of Lord Denethor… though perhaps just once. Dealing with a variety of sisters, as well as his mother and grandmother in his household, he knows well how to read women’s emotions, and is often the settler of disputes in his family.
Faeldor is known to enjoy social gatherings, and will go to the taverns on occasion, though he always keeps his wits about him and won’t overdo the beer or wine. He enjoys giving compliments and looking on the bright side of people, but he can be very protective and may come to despise some for the way they treat his family, friends, or acquaintances. He has a great faith in humans for being able to overcome their obstacles, and would never discourage someone who was attempting to live in a good way.
~~ The Family ~~
Parents:
Father- Faelon (deceased in warfare)
Mother- Meleth (45), cook in the citadel palace
Grandfather: Melanir (76), once a shepherd of Dol Amroth, now a city storyteller living with his youngest daughter in Minas Tirith.
Grandmother: Tinuves (68), once a midwife of Dol Amroth, now a caretaker of her grandchildren.
Sibling(s):
Sisters:
Miriel (22)- The eldest daughter, Miriel has like her brother also taken on a responsibility for her family as an obligation, though she is often not inclined to spend all her time among them. Her younger siblings are sometimes an annoyance to her, and she wishes to have the free reign to leave her household. Miriel is vain in terms of her appearance, and sometimes rude and judgemental among her co-workers.
Narbeleth- (18)- She is somewhere between the stages of adolescent and adult, but does not care, for she is very spirited and lives for the day. She is much a loner, though looks up to her oldest brother, and also has a passion for horses and being outdoors. She is not concerned about her appearance, nor what people say of her. She does not work outside the home, for she has taken over much of her mother’s responsibilities in the home since her mother and older sister began to work in the palace.
Marileth (12)- The middle daughter, Arosel often feels overlooked, and when her older sisters are home, she is a shadow to them, copying them in all ways of attitude and vanity, and trying to fit in. She works hard to please her family, and she is very gifted in music and instrument.
Haliel (7)- Haliel is shy and gentle. She was born crippled and slow of speech, but she has the ability to walk well enough on her own now with the use of a cane, though she has limited balance. Haliel often avoids going out into public, embarrassed by the way she walks, though if Faeldor takes her she will go for he lets her sit on his shoulders or ride upon his horse, and she need not use her cane.
Brother:
Faelon II (8)- He is a wild youth, prone to be a show off, and a partaker in fighting amongst his friends. Faelon was named for his father shortly after his death, and when this is mentioned to him the boy will usually calm down and reevaluate the trouble he is causing. Despite his roughness and disobedience to his older sisters and brother, he is the sweetest of children to his little sister, and is always eager to assist her.
Spouse: none
Children: none
History:
Faeldor was born in the year 2983 to his parents in the city of Dol Amroth. His father was not talented in ship building as both his grandfathers had been, and wished to make a name for his family, so shortly after his birth, before his first sister was born, they moved inland to the great White City of Minas Tirith, where his father took up work in the Citadel stables. His horsemanship skills soon ranked him at the top, and he found himself in charge of the horses of the Steward himself. From there, his family began to grown and prosper.
His father was head of the palace stables, a rather high position, and thus it ensured a good position for Faeldor to be trained in horsemanship at a young age, and apprentice to his father during his adolescent years. His father was killed en route to Osgiliath on a winter morning, shot down by orcs who had someone pressed through the borders in the night. They stole the horses that he had been bringing for the Osgiliath guard from Minas Tirith, and left his body on the fields, to be found a few days later. At this time Faeldor took over his father's position, and became both the head of the household, and the charge of the stables. His duties are to be the overseer of the young hired hands, boys and men, who care for the horses of the army. To select the well trained horses that should be brought in, and to personally care for the horses of the Steward and his sons.
Faeldor has always been well concerned for his family. He did little to disobey his parents in his youth, and took on the responsibility of eldest of six children by tutoring and protecting his siblings. He is not inclined to show favoritism, though his youngest sister Haliel brings him joy, and if he has a moment of free time between his work, and his home chores, he is oft to be seen reading to her, or playing with her. To some, his family may seem endless; and if he brings a guest over, their heads go spinning as his siblings enter and he names them off one by one. To him though, he is glad for the multitude and cherishes each one.
At short order after the death of his father, his grandparents on his mother's side moved from their home in Dol Amroth to assist with the family and care for the youngest children while his mother found work in the palace kitchens, and also because they were becoming quite elderly in age. The eldest of his sisters, Miriel, also works among the cooks, and Faeldor often visits them in the kitchens when he has a break from the stables, to get a hearty meal for his seemingly never full stomach. He often finds a way to put a smile on the face of any of the cooks and servants, from young to old, and most people are fond of him there.
Anything Else?: No, but I apologize for the length of this, but Faeldor’s family kept getting larger, and his siblings wanted to each have a little bio as well so that their writer would remember all the ideas she had for them. Oh, and “one ring to rule them all!”
