Dear Laurë, I’m sure you were waiting to know how the diner happened. Jenssen was quite stressed, he told me during the day before the diner that he wanted to make a good impression. He’s a bit worried that he might be cast away because of his work. It’s true that everyone in the family is either in the army or the guards. As I expected, they pushed him a little. I know it was just for fun, you know how we are around the table, but he was so nervous it affected him. He can be grumpy when nervousness takes him, or fear. Earlier one day, he yelled at me and was grouchy because I decided to climb a tree to get a toy from a kid and nearly fell down. I dumped him right away and he came back an hour later, apologizing, saying he had been afraid I broke my neck or something. I know I was a bit reckless there and you should have seen his face when he apologized, I couldn’t resist and forgave him straight away. He says I’ll have to learn to be more careful. Anyway, to go back to the diner, he exploded at some point, claiming that he may not know how to fight as well as them but he loved me and he would never allow anything to happen to me. They were a bit surprised and my father smiled, telling him they knew that and they simply meant to warn him he was better take good care of me. The rest of the evening went very well. He doesn’t know how to read, at least not so well so I’m teaching him, it gives us another reason to be together. I have to admit we don’t read a lot, last time I think we read two or three lines and spent the rest of the hour kissing and holding each other. I wonder when he’ll ask for my hand. Mother says I have to wait for him to come ask the permission to my father, it is how it’s done. He better not wait too long!
I had no idea! Aldamir says he was not surprised but I don’t believe him. Balder says it was also plausible because of your skin color, your eyes and your ears. Aldamir pointed out that it was what he meant. I wonder why he noticed your skin, eyes and ears this well. I suppose it’s a guy thing. We’re all a bit worried for you there. Fishermen are not known for being the best kind of person, they often drink and they have a woman in every port they say, surely they visit brothels and all. Be careful not to lose too much there. Even Rabryn was worried about you on that matter, he said beautiful as you are and small too they will all try to get you or force you. I know you’re strong but still watch yourself.
On the Ellandhra matter, I think we might be rid of her. She made a scene to Aldamir because she’ll be the only one in the family not married. She reminded him she was demand and could find another man if she wanted to and he said she could do just that. I wasn’t supposed to hear that, they weren’t home, I just happen to be near when she came to see him while he was training. I think she’s a bit pissed Aldamir said he had no intention of joining the army, he was good as a guard and that he would work t get the promotion of captain, not buy it because it would give more prestige to be married to a captain than a guard. I think she loves him, for real. I mean, she’s rich, she really could get any man she wants but she chose him. It’s just that we’re lower than she expected and now she’s trying to fix it without having to leave him. But it’s not his way of doing things, you know he likes perfection and hardwork.
Balder promised to reserve a game for you and him and you can be the whites. Good luck in your studies, and tell me more about it. Sorsha.

Dear Laurë, I’m happy you might have found a home. Even if we’ll miss you, your happiness is what matters the most. It is a good thing you found a mentor who will teach you the job of healers and well as give you experience in life. She can also watch over you for us, which is a good thing. Tell me more about her.
I’m not surprised that she said that, you can achieve everything you wish to do, really. I never thought you’d choose that line of work but if you like it and it makes you happy I am happy too. We are I should say. Jossian has grown a liking to dance. His hands might hurt but not his feet. And, I find it weird to write almost as much as seeing it, he found someone. I have to say, when he invited this woman I was shocked. He had never seen another woman since my mother’s death and even if I’m not a kid and can understand his desire to be with someone who loves him, it’s weird to see him with another woman. I’ve never known my mother, you know that, but I always pictured him as the man of one woman only. Well, he can do that, really, at his age and with a lot of free time, he can spend it any way he can. And I don’t have to call her mother, obviously, so it’s not too awkward. At least he’s seeing her mostly at her home, she’s leaving alone watching her grandchildren when her son and daughter-in-law are working. If I was to find them together... doing... you get the idea...
I was worried there a minute about Arien, you know. We’re finally together and I don’t want to force things or go too quickly. We’re making sure to stop working during the evenings so we can eat together and spend time every day that way. I know this is the next step but we still have some things to decide first. Like I said, I cannot force her to quit her work so she can go live with me. Well, I can’t but I don’t want to.
By the way, Jossian has been asking about your love life, if there was someone taking care of you.

Dear Sorsha,
I am happy to hear more about you, and that Jenssen made it in your family! Your brother never mean any kind of harm, Rabryn is a sweetheart, even if he tends to be flirty and I can't deny that if I was to have a father, it would be someone like yours but mine abandoned me, I cannot change that. I just wish to rebuild a new family with the people I care the most about. However, if he passed the test of the family, he'll still need to pass mine, ahah, I'm happy he makes you happy Sorsha, you deserve it as much as anyone do. I'm not afraid for him asking for your hand, I'm sure you two will be married before I come back!
I'm surprised that Balder noticed, he is the youngest but the wisest, and I suppose you're write, that it's a guy thing so we better not question this. Don't worry about the men, I'm so busy with my mentor that I have barely the time to meet men that are around. Sure there are a few as usual who turn around me, expecting me to give myself to them, some needed a slap, but I can handle myself pretty much. You sound like my cousin speaking of the fishermen! Don't worry, I'm fine.
I'm sad to hear that Aldamir didn't find the love of his life with Ellandhra, even if I was surprised with the kind of woman he fell for. Sometimes faith does thing we cannot change and we have to accept it.
Lovely! Tell to Balder that I'm not one to be easily beat playing chess!
I miss you so much, Laurë

Dear Keann, I am amazed that Jossian found himself a woman to care deeply about. I have to admit I am quite surprised he found someone as well! Tell him I wish for him all the happiness of the world, the man deserves it for taking care of you and I for so long. He found a passion into dancing? That's great, I'll have to waltz with him next time I come to see you again, I'm starting to miss home but I have things I have to accomplish first.
We have been training a lot, the name of the woman is Gaellyn, she has been an experienced healer since quite a young age and loves the job more than her own life. The things she can do are amazing, really. She is married to a husband and has a son that is of my age, you're asking of my love life? The man in question has caught my eye actually and we're spending some time together whenever we can for we're both pretty busy. He works as a guard, protecting the town pretty much like my friend's siblings. His name is Deonvan, we don't consider to settle down yet but he is really sweet. He always has attentions for me and reminds me of you at some points.
Be reassured, Arien told me that she is enjoying her life with you, I'm sure you two will just do fine, don't worry about anything, I know things will come out as they will. By the way, my training will be done in six months, once it's over, I may go back to Lossarnach.
Sincerely yours,
Laurë

Dear Laurë, He did it!!! I didn’t wait to receive your letter to start this one, the second Jenssen came I knew I had to tell you. I had no idea he was there at the house actually, I was gone to buy some food at the market and I was wondering why he wasn’t at his stall with his father. He said he was at our house already. To tell the truth, he was better. I should be ashamed to admit it, but I didn’t exactly wait for us to be married to do it, if you get what I mean. Let’s just say I went to find him one night he was drinking a mug or two of beer with other guys at the tavern. I wasn’t worried though, I knew that would happen, it’s why I did it. You can say I just couldn’t wait. Now at least if I’m pregnant it won’t matter. When I arrived home he had finished talking to my father, they were shaking hands and father asked me to join them. He told me Jenssen has asked for my hand in marriage and he said he would never allow it ... without my full consent. Yes, he played a little trick even there. By the time you received this letter, I’ll probably be married or about to. I’ll live with his parents, his house is about as big if not bigger than ours. Sure I’ll miss my family but it’s not as if I won’t be able to see them whenever I’d like to. He said he would never forbid me to come back if I wanted to see them.
Ellandhra is married too, but not to my brother. She announced him it was over the same day she also admitted being engaged to someone else. Apparently, she decided to go for someone she liked less but would give her what she wanted. Aldamir didn’t seem this destroyed by the news, I think to be less affected, he would have wished her good luck in her life. But I think inside he’s hurt. She was better than no one I suppose, and she didn’t bother his detached attitude. But love is really in the air because Rabryn brought another girl. I’m having more hope on this one. She doesn’t seem to mind his love of wine and women, as long as she’s the only one in his heart. Cross your fingers, maybe there will be another marriage in the family.
I’m glad things are going good for you and that you like your studies. You sound like Balder. You should see him, at the thought of books, his eyes glitter. I’d still like to hear you found someone. But don’t mind that, it’s the woman in love speaking!
All my affection, Sorsha

Dear cousin, Jossian simply wanted to state that if he found some happiness with a woman, he has no intention of marrying her. He said that at their age, finding someone to spend their remaining days with was the best that could happen and he dealt with marriage once already, he was too old for another. I don’t like when he speaks like that, sounds as if he had one foot in the grave already when the only health problems he’s got are a bad sight and some arthritis. The woman is really nice, she’s good with children. She also doesn’t want to get married. She assumed that she got all she could dream of life with a fine husband, beautiful children and now grandchildren. Her husband passed away three years ago and she simply doesn’t want to stay alone and this is why she enjoys my father’s company. They often dance as if they were at some ball, in their prime age. It’s beautiful to see. I’ve been trying to dance too, with Arien, but I have two left feet. I don’t want to stomp on her toes too much, so it’s their activity, not ours. I’m glad you found someone, but I hope he doesn’t turn you away from your studies. The way you talk of him, he sounds like a fine man and so I’m happy to be compared to him. I hope you have a chaperon. If you’re to go back to Lossarnach, will he join? I don’t know f guards can change of place like this but I do hope so, for you. I admit it would be a relief to know such a man was there by your side at all times. You’re a beautiful young girl after all. It will be Arien’s birthday soon. I made a hairpin with sapphires and silver, I hope she will like it. I know by the time you’ll receive this letter and reply, it will be long gone so even if you have a better idea you won’t be able to share it, but I can’t keep it to myself and I want it to be a surprise, so I figured you’d be the best to tell it to. I’ve added the sketch of it so you may get an idea. sketchSincerely yours, Keann

Dear Sorsha, You won't believe it but I have found someone throughout my studies. I suspect my mentor to have planned it a little, actually, she has a son, that is as old as I am, he has sandy blond/light brown hair and blue eyes, he is simply amazing, he works as a guard in town. He had caught my attention ever since the first time we met, for the woman introduced him to me; the more I think about it, the more I am certain she planned the whole thing! Otherwise, I just wanted to tell you the news, which are quite wonderful, I'm spending a good time with him and my mentor. Planning to return as soon as I am done, which is in about two months, to Lossarnach.
I am also so happy that you finally are engaged! Congratulation, I have a little wedding gift for you, a piece of jewellery directly from Lebennin, it's a necklace, with your name engraved in it, consider it also as a late birthday present. I miss you so much!
I am sorry for Aldamir, tell him that he might just as well find someone better, there's still hope. I know I must sound like your brother now do I? I miss the all of you,
PS- Since I know you'll want a name, it's Deonvan.
Enjoy your lives,
Laurë

Dear Keann,
It's all so adorable, I am happy for him, he still has his feet down to earth no matter what, it's one of the many reasons of why I admire him. Tell him I miss him! I miss you too of course and Arien. Speaking of which, she started thinking about a wedding, you might get some hint there! I'm sure that she will love her gift! Tell her I wish her happy birthday and that I have faith in you two. I'm sure you'll also find a lovely couple activity; just don't give up!
We actually have talked about the matter a few times, he's considering to leave with me, so he could be of protection, we will need to announce that to my mentor, but I am sure she will be happy for us for I am almost certain that she was the one who tried to pair us in the first place- don't get it wrong, I don't regret anything of it.
I still study as hard as I can, but sometimes it's driving me crazy; I still try to keep the motivation that I had before. I'm nearly done so I keep the faith and stay positive.
Sincerely yours, Laurë

Dear Laurë, It is amazing news! I knew you wouldn’t be alone very long. Tell me, you have a thing for guards or what. Not that I can blame you, with their training, they’re quite strong and built. And who cares if it’s someone else who pushed you in his arms, if you’re happy there! I’m quite happy in my new life as a wife. And I am pregnant, well I think I am. I haven’t told him, but lately, I’m sick and dizzy and tired at some times. I just know it’s a baby, I can feel it. His mother is really nice, a bit rough around the corners but it’s probably for being the wife of a butcher. Cleaning the blood out of the clothes is harder than I thought and she considers I’m too thin and I need to grow some backbone as she says. I’ll show her, don’t worry. She still likes me, she just worries it will make me weak and sick to work as much as I should in my state. If all she wants is that I get a few more pounds, she’ll be served!
This guard of yours sounds dreamy, I wish you luck. Aldamir brought me the letter and he stayed with me when I read it. He was a bit surprised you found someone. I think he’s just jealous because he’s still single. He took this separation harder that he seemed I can tell. He even refused your sympathy for his situation - very much like him there! In his way, he probably loved her and even if he never imagined marrying her now, perhaps he thought that might happen in a future. I know he seemed rude to you, but inside, he’s very soft. He comes often to give me news of the family and he worries how I’m doing. At least Balder will have his chess companion back. He said women were not for him. Definitely the talk of a man whose heart was broken.
I love this necklace you gave me, and Jenssen did too. Balder isn’t at home anymore. He has a room at the scholar’s tower where he studies. He comes back one day or two every two weeks. And he writes to us. Mother is worried for him now that her ‘baby’ isn’t home anymore. She also come to see me when she can but she says it is my life and I should make my own family now. Oh and by some miracle, Rabryn is still with the girl, who knows perhaps we can really start to hope he’ll marry.
I hope to hear from you soon, Sorsha

Dear cousin, Did she? It’s surprising really, she didn’t tell me anything about it. We aren’t living together. If only her shop was closer to mine, it would all be easy. I wouldn’t find it fair for her to have to walk all this distance every morning and evening but I simply don’t have the place to add her shop in mine. We’d need a bigger one. I do hope it’s not yet another one of your trick here, to talk of marriage so I freak out, start making up stories and so you force me to ask her when she had never even thought about it. I suppose you’ll get an answer in the next letter, if not mine, then hers.
I’m glad you found yourself a man. Jossian would like to learn more about him, he’d like details, how he treats you, the kind of man he is and the like. I admit I do to but if you want to keep some things to yourself I understand. Just assure us he’s good to you and that you are happy with him. You have to keep your determination intact. I know love can give you wings and forget about your duty but it’s important too. I’m sure you’ll be an amazing healer one day.
I don’t know if your friend told you, perhaps but I’m still telling you. I went to a lord’s house, he had ordered something for the wedding of his daughter. I was shocked to see the brooch I made for your friend’s brother on her. Is he marrying her? I don’t really know them so I didn’t think it was my place to congratulate anyone there. I suppose after such a pricy gift, it’s a natural turn of event. Whatever is happening, her father seemed really pleased. She on the other hand looked as though she might have second thoughts. I hope things will turn out right for them.
Right me when you’ll reach Lossarnach so I will know where to send the letters. You have the greetings of Jossian and his friend, Dana. Keann

Dear Sorsha,
Forgive the lateness of my letter, there had a turn of event that I would have never suspected, while heading back to Lossarnach, we have been attacked by thieves, Deonvan and a few other men defended us right, however, Deonvan got injured and passed away the night before I wrote you this letter. I am a bit shocked, but in a week, I will come back to Mineas Tirith, please, don’t tell the news to your family yet, even if I am still sad from the past events, I still want to make it a surprise to them. You can mention the death of my man, just not too much, I would appreciate it. How is Balder reacting to the fact that he isn’t with the family on a daily basis like he used to be before? I know that it can be hard sometimes to leave the people you care the most about. At least he can go back to your house every now and then. Aldamir will never change now will he? I’ll come back at him some day, this man needs to relax at some point, but I doubt he would like to hear it from me, apparently, he’s still as harsh around me as he used to be? I am happy you liked your present, as well as Jenssen, I will come and visit you soon,
Laurë
_______________
Dear cousin, She did and trusts me, this time it isn’t a made up story; I think she also talked about buying a bigger shop, so you two could live together and that you would stop worrying about her. Who knows maybe I’ll be there in time to assist to your wedding, which I would gladly love to.
Jossian might be slightly disappointed, no matter how much I would talk of Deonvan, he has passed away for we got attacked by thieves, no matter how strong and trained he was, he still got injured and the travelling got the best out of him, he passed away last night. Therefore, I announce you that I am leaving Lossarnach in a week, just to have enough time to see the children again and tell them a final goodbye. I cannot hide the fact that I am sad, but I hopefully will get over it in time.
However, he was a fine man, protecting me when needed and always asking me about you and reading the letters with me. I wish I could’ve presented him to you, Jossian would’ve liked him, I am certain of it.
I would like, on the other hand, to hear more of Dana, she seems like a fine woman. But I will see it when I’ll be back.

Dear Laurë, How awful that while things are going for the better for me, it turns out so bad for you. I am so sorry for you, he looked like a real gentleman that could have made you happy. I wished I had known him. Everyone in the family is sad for you. I didn’t tell them for your return, I suppose you will receive this letter on the way there or maybe you won’t even and I’ll tell you all this myself. We’ve had our share of drama and turns of events around here as well.
Let’s start with the good news. Everyone is rejoiced that I’m pregnant. Jenssen maintains I’ve never looked better than since I got a belly. I’m doing less at the house, the sight of carcass and blood makes me sick (I can still wash his shirts without problem, but for the rest, it’s just too much). He keeps calling me his poor little wife when it happens, claiming I’ll have to get a stronger stomach now that she married a butcher’s son. But he’s very sweet and takes even more care of me in my situation. I asked him how many kids he’d like to have. He said he could have a hundred if they’re all of me but since he’s got little do to we might have to stop at fifty. I’ll probably be delivering by the time you arrive so take a guess about the gender, they say it’s good luck.
Something strange happened to Rabryn, in the better I’d say. You remember I told you his lover said she accepted his love of women as long as she was the only one in his heart. No need to say he visited a few brothels while seeing her in the same time - some of these girls know him by his name, really! Well, she found him with another woman one day and when he came to see her, he noticed she had been crying. But she said it was fine, she understood he had a strong appetite and she would not be able to satisfy him. I think he understood she was ready to make this painful sacrifice for him because she loved him. I haven’t heard he was seeing anyone else since. There’s no wedding ahead yet but it definitely brought them closer.
We feared for Balder again. He was brought to the healing houses for coughing blood. They asked me not to come, the stress isn’t good for the baby but apparently he’s fine now. I told you he had a weak constitution but it’s worse than you probably imagined. I know he can look strong sometimes but he isn’t. He almost died and that every since he was in our mother’s womb. At his birth, the healers asked my father if they should save the mother or the child. Every time there is some disease in the air, he catches it. We’re used to it, we always figured he wouldn’t live very long but it doesn’t stop it from being awfully painful and scary to see him like that. Don’t worry though, now he’s back to his studies.
Now something that scared me. If you’re to come, you might have to know because if you fall on Aldamir you might be shocked. Did I tell you that he has now a higher rank among the guards? Soon he’ll be captain, we can all sense it. But that’s not what I wanted to talk about. A little while ago, I was shopping for some fabric to make baby clothes and there was a clash at the market place between two merchants. It’s Aldamir’s area as you know and he tried to calm the two men. One of them threw a knife and it hit him. I don’t think I ever screamed any louder then when I saw it. His ear was nearly cut in half and he had a large wound on his temple. It was bleeding so much. I applied the fabric on it to contain a bit and those two idiots just kept fighting as if nothing happens until more guards stopped them and threw them in jail. The only reason they’re out now is because it wasn’t too bad a wound. I brought him to the hospital. They shaved a part of his hair to clean the wound. He shaved the rest since it was stupid after he wasn’t wrapped in bandages anymore. It’s a bit weird this look on him. He also had his ear in a special cast or something. They said that like this, when it will heal, the two parts where the cut is will heal together. Now you can see a scar. I’m sure you won’t be surprised to hear the next day he wanted to go back to work. I think he would argue he has to even when he’ll be dying. Mother threatened to tie him to his bed if he ever dared leaving the house. He came to see me the other day, with his bald head. He had bought some fabric, the same I picked, to replace the one I had just bought and was now stained with his blood. Silly him, really. As if I cared after thinking he would have died! So if he’s the first one you see on your return, be nice to him, will you?
I can’t wait to see you again! Sorsha

Dear cousin, She didn’t need to buy a bigger shop. One close to mine was selling his place in order to go on a higher tier, expanding and all. I bought it for her. It’s pricy, for sure, but with the money she got from selling her own establishment as she moved there, now we’re comfortable. There isn’t any apartment upstairs so she’s living with us. Right now, she has Jossian’s room. He decided to go live with Dana and give us some intimacy. I’m currently working on a wedding ring for her, she has no idea so please don’t tell her in your letter. She thinks it’s just another one of my order, not like it’s strange for me to make rings. I’ll need a good time to propose to her too, but it can wait, the ring needs to be done first.
I am extremely sorry for Deonvan, you seemed to like him a lot. It must be hard to lose someone close to you again. Jossian is happy though that it didn’t destroy you. You sure are a strong one. I can’t wait to see you again, we can save you a place at the apartment upon your return. It’s good to hear you’re coming back after three years of wandering and learning. I know it must still hurt you this new loss, but time will heal it, you know that. And I’m sure he’s not regretting giving his life to protect you. He was a guard, I’m sure he expected something like that would happen to him one day. And we liked him, even if we haven’t seen him, be certain of this.
I won’t tell you too much about her, if you’re coming, you’ll meet her and get your own idea of her. She’s a fine woman though, she sometimes cook for us all and she takes care of my father’s rheumatisms. She maintains she’s got the time now that she’s good only to watch over her grandchildren. But I’m afraid it might give some ideas in my father’s head about Arien and I...
Good luck on your journey home, Keann
