Laurë smirked as Sorsha talked about her cousin, Keann. He was even funnier than Aldamir; she was certain that she would enjoy seeing how shy and awkward he could get and it was even worse when it was with the girl he had a crush on; Arien. “He’s better than Aldamir, he has a crush on the woman I am working fun, and they almost kissed in front of me! He looked as if he was about to faint, you should’ve seen this; it as priceless!” She exclaimed with a small giggle. Of course, she didn’t miss any of the show that they gave her the first evening she arrived in town.
She glanced at her friend as she talked about her company and gave a devilish smirk to Aldamir as he said that her company was delightful; something that she could hardly believe coming from him especially considering what happened the last time they had talked to each other, which was the first time they met.
“I might have to correct what you said Sorsha; he is too distracted by our beauty.” She mused, of course jokingly. She was almost certain that if his older brother was there he would add something to her words and it made her smirk even more. “ And guys can’t do two things at the same time.” She finished with a small laugh.

As Laurë talked of her cousin, Aldamir had more and more sympathy for the guy. Not only was he, apparently, in love with someone, but he had his meddling cousin getting in the middle and watching his every move to laugh and tease him about them. It really mustn’t be easy. He tried to make abstraction of it all, not wanting to think of her cousin and what she could have him endure. He could easily guess, since she was like his sister. But since she was not kith and kin, he felt he had a right to dislike her and make sure she stays away from him as much as possible.
He froze a moment when she said he was blinded and distracted by their beauty. He stared at the two girls. He did not find them all that attractive. Sorsha was... well she was his sister and perhaps too thin for him. As for Laurë... sure she was rather good looking but he could hardly see when her simple presence could distract him to that point. She was just too annoying for him to consider her beautiful and interesting. “Well, speak up brother, it’s not polite to stare at people like this. And watch what you’re saying.” Sorsha replied.
Aldamir preferred to shake his head and sigh as he tried to return to the game. Their mother made a brief interruption. “Oh Aldamir, I wanted to ask you something. It’s getting quite late, I don’t feel comfortable letting Laurë leave the house alone. When she’ll go, would you please accompany her?” Aldamir sighed once more, heavier this time. He stared at Laurë for a second and almost wished to say she’d be fine by herself. But he knew it was safer and only logical for someone to accompany her. And since Rabryn left... “Fine.” he replied.
During the rest of the game, Aldamir played not too well and Balder won the game. In the end, he got distracted.

Laurë grinned at Sorsha as she spoke to her brother after she commented her words. She loved the girl; they were so alike! She never thought she would manage to get along with someone as fast as she had. She laughed lightly after she spoke to Aldamir and gave a small smile to Balder who was just so adorable playing with his big brother. He seemed to be very intelligent for his age that is. She had a feeling he could do great things even if he looked weaker somehow.
She glanced at their mother as she came into the room to ask Aldamir if he could escort her to her house. She would’ve said that she was fine by herself and that she could protect herself since she wasn’t someone week but considering the size of the town, she wouldn’t say anything. Not to add that their mother was so lovely. She knew that she would get along quite well with the woman, it somehow clicked between them two just like it did along with Sorsha.
She chuckled noticing the disappointment in Aldamir’s sigh. The rest of the time she had spent in the company of her friend passed by quickly; she watched the two boys playing chess while she was chatting along with Sorsha mainly about her cousin. She just knew that the girl would love him. Not to add that the jewels he was making were absolutely amazing! Soon the game was over and it was the time for her to leave knowing that Jossian would worry if she didn’t come home on time. “I’ll see you soon Sorsha!” She exclaimed and then waved good bye to the rest of the family as she went to the door, waiting for Aldamir to come along.

As soon as the game was done, Aldamir helped his brother replace everything. His mother returned to say it was time for Balder to go to bed. As always, the boy did not complain, even if it wasn’t all that late. He had always been a very obedient little boy. He said goodbye to Laurë on his way to his room. Aldamir followed behind him in order to join the girl, his sister close behind.
Sorsha kissed Laurë’s cheeks as they were saying goodbye. Aldamir grabbed his black cape with the white tree embroidered on it. The nights were sometimes fresh, plus he had the habit of putting it on whenever he was leaving the house. One may believe it was a sign of vanity, but he was proud of being a member of the guard, to have this many responsibilities and to show the example. If it was vanity, he was very humble in it for he simply wanted to prove himself worthy of the honour.
“I hope you know where your cousin’s house is from here, or that you know about where it is.” he said to her as they left the house. After all, he did not know her cousin, so how was he supposed to bring her home if he didn’t know where her home was.

Once goodbyes were said, Laurë waved one last time at her friend and walked out followed soon by Aldamir. She stared at him as he questioned her about her house. She stared at him in shock, faking a surprised look as he spoke to her. “Oh lord! I didn’t think about that!” she remained like that for a few minutes only to laugh lightly. “Don’t worry, I have a good sense of directions, I know where to go.” she finished with a playful smirk as she started leading the way.
After that, she wasn’t very talkative, liking how peaceful the town was when it was the evening. It was a great contrast to the busy day time life. She felt more comfortable and at least, this time she wasn’t going to have a random panic attack. It was probably one of the few things you could recognize the two cousins by. Keann was one to almost faint whenever he was being too close to the one he loved and she was having panic attacks whenever she was out in a place full of people that she didn’t know.
“You know, you never answered my question.” She pointed out as she walked by his side, wrapping her arms around her waist. For once, she didn’t mean it in a nagging way.

When she said she had a good sense of directions, he raised an eyebrow sceptically. He still recalled the lost girl he saw first and if it had been a little while now she was living in the town, he doubted she could that easily find her way back home. Especially if she never walked in town at night. At some points, it was almost an entirely different town. Without the noise from the shops and people on the streets, it was hard to believe it used to be the oh so crowded marketplace. Still, he decided to follow her, at least for now, and see how well of sense of directions was.
The walk was rather silent which made it quite pleasant. He studied the lines of her face as they walked. Now that she was not talking back at him or having her defiant look, she could be acceptable and agreeable to watch. For a moment, he even wondered if it was not an entirely different person he was taking home than the one that ate with his family only minutes ago.
She finally broke the silence. At first, he frowned, wondering what she was talking about. He didn’t recall any questions. There were comments about her cousin, her uncle, her work at the dressmaker shop... her and Sorsha’s beauty distracting him apparently... the diner that was good. No, no question there. Before then? Before, they talked of him, or more like made fun of him. He vaguely recalled her asking him what he was doing for fun. Was it the question she meant? He shrugged to her. “Why do you care about what I do for fun?” he inquired. He didn’t believe he could be interesting, not to a girl like her. And he liked it that way.

Laurë glanced at him as he felt attacked by this simple question. What was wrong with asking something like that? It wasn’t as if she was talking about a subject that she shouldn’t bring out, it was a simple one. She even gave him the chance to prove that he wasn’t as boring as she thought he could be but apparently, it would be harder to get his stuck up self...to speak out. He certainly looked more and more like an old geezer doing that. Why didn’t he want to change that? It was a pure wonder to her.
She continued to lead the way, not finding it hard. Once she was used to the town, she could easily find spots she cold refer herself to so she wouldn’t get lost. It was an old trick yet, some people still managed to get lost. Besides, she couldn’t get lost in a forest; a town was certainly easier for her after a week she had been there.
“Geez, it’s just a question.” She replied. “There’s no need to be on guard, I don’t intend to black mail you about that.” She added with an eye roll. “I just wanted to know, that’s all.” She finished with a shrug but apparently, he wouldn’t be cooperative. Fine then, good for him.

Aldamir sighed heavily as she replied on the defensive. His tone had not been all that mean but apparently, she did not take well the fact he had no interest in opening himself to her. He stopped himself, grabbing her arm so she would do the same. “Look there. You’re my sister’s friend, not mine. I’ll be polite but I have no intention of telling my life to you. What you care about my hobbies anyway, you plan to join me!?” he replied to her comments. He wanted to make it clear that she meant nothing to him. At most was she in his ‘annoying brats’ list. The kind that, if she was seeing him patrolling, would go to him to do her bidding and serve as he little personal bodyguard.
He stared at her a second before releasing his grip on her arm and walking the road to the next corner, waiting for her to join him there, since he had no idea whether he had to continue straight forward or turn. He hoped she got the message, that she was just another citizen like any other he would protect. He was not her friend, her pet or target for petty jokes.

What the hell? Was the three words that came to her as he grabbed her arm and simply blew out of his mind. What was wrong with this man? This certainly didn’t please her. Rude, impolite and mean humph, she was certainly glad not to have a sibling like him. It was just a little question that didn’t mean any harm. She was trying to be nice to her and he simply refused. If he wanted war, he would have it.
It wasn’t her problem if he couldn’t take a joke or two but this certainly crossed her boundaries in gentlemen manners. She glared at him and quickly got her arm away from him as he released her. He pretended to be a guard? Screw that.
She stood there, watching him walking ahead literally pissed off she decided to take a different way, she knew the town well besides, apparently he didn’t want her company so he would most likely be pleased to see her gone. She didn’t say anything walking fast and not carrying about what he would say or do, it was his problem now. Idiot.

Aldamir was there waiting for her to come but she was standing still. Her face showed both surprised and anger in what he just said to her. She apparently just couldn’t believe what he told her. But he believed those words. After all, it was the truth. He was not her friend nor was he trying to. They did not need to act like they were friends or cared about each other when it clearly wasn’t the case. He was to... how she put it ‘serious’ for her. And her mood swings and ‘I laugh at the face of death’ attitude just rubbed off the wrong way.
But when she left him there and took another road, he was the one making a surprised face. What the hell was she thinking!? He walked, a little more quickly than usual, to catch up with her. He saw her turn a corner and quickened the pace to get to her. She might be annoying, but he said he’d walk her back home and he intended to do just that.
“What are you doing?” he said as he was slowly catching up with her. He didn’t want to run. As long as he was able to look at her, that should be fine. No one would be able to hurt her, shall anything happen, if he could keep her in his sight. And at this distance, he wouldn’t have to listen to her. So he slowed down a little and let a few feet stand between them.

Laurë continued walking her way home, it wasn’t as if anything could happen to her besides, she was close to it. She stopped as she heard him speak. For someone who didn’t want of her company he seemed to be persistent into ‘protecting’ her. Tch, men. “I’m walking home.” She simply said her voice clearly showing that she didn’t take how rude he was to her. Sorsha would surely learn about this sooner or later but for now, she was too busy raging at Aldamir.
He was lucky she didn’t have a bow and arrows in her hands or else, she would stick him there to a wall hung by arrows so he would leave her alone. In a few minutes, she found Keann’s shop and was at the door. “See? I told you I had a good sense of direction. Now you can go home and do your boring stuff.” At these words, she opened the door and closed it loudly. Jossian stared at her with questioning eyes but decided it would be better not to ask her for now.
